A 37-year-old Keizer man was sentenced Tuesday to six and a half years in federal prison on methamphetamine and immigration charges, officials said.

Jose Felix Huerta-Valdez was sentenced to 78 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and illegal immigration charges, said U.S. Department of Justice spokeswoman Sue Rutledge.
Huerta-Valdez was arrested last April after a traffic stop was conducted by Woodburn police and Marion County sheriff's deputies. Huerta-Valdez was driving a car near Silverton and Cordon roads NE when he was pulled over.
Inside the car, investigators found about 84 grams of methamphetamine and 16 grams of another substance used to mix with the drugs. About $1,500 also was found.
He pleaded guilty to both charges Tuesday. Huerta-Valdez also was ordered to serve four years of parole.
