NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - A man wanted by Mexican authorities for a triple homicide in Caborca, Mexico, a year ago has been handed over to Mexican law enforcement.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say 26-year-old Marcos Samuel Renteria Gaxiola, alias "El Mamut," was deported through Nogales on Dec. 23.

ICE spokeswoman Amber Cargile tells the Nogales International agents with ICE's Homeland Security Investigations unit learned Renteria was in the U.S.

Cargile added once the government confirmed Renteria was wanted in Mexico as a homicide suspect, ICE agents apprehended him in Phoenix and made his subsequent removal a priority.

Renteria was wanted for the Jan. 1, 2011 killings of two men and a 2-year-old boy. Renteria allegedly told investigators the killings were over a trespassing dispute.
