Man wanted on murder warrant arrested at Bartlesville motel

The headline should have been "Illegal that wanted a better life was arrested for nothing"
This rag of a paper needs to be stopped.

BARTLESVILLE -- Local police officers early Friday arrested a fugitive at a Bartlesville hotel who is wanted in a Texas murder case.

The U.S. Marshal's Office had tracked Juan Manuel Garcia, a 28-year-old Mexican national, to Bartlesville, where he was believed to be hiding in a hotel room in the 2300 block of Washington Boulevard.

Garcia is the prime suspect in the Jan. 1 stabbing death of Ismael Aruajo, who was killed in Sequin during an argument over family matters, according to police.

Bartlesville police department's special operations team went to the hotel after Manuel and arrested him after using a "flash band," a device that produces a bright light and loud sound to temporarily stun a subject, Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland said.

The search for Garcia involved U.S. Marshals, Texas Rangers, Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office.

Garcia is being held in Washington County until the U.S. Marshal's Office can transfer him to Texas.

I goggled flash band device and didn't come up with anything. What is it and how does it operate? Is it 'shot' into a room like tear gas or hand held and operated like a taser? Does it affect only one individual or groups?

This could be a great tool for our border agents depending on how its operated---van loads of illegal immigrants, groups which are lead by coyotes, etc.

With this rag of a newspaper I am sure what they meant was flash grenade or flash bang device.

Thanks for the clarification--had hoped it was something new but bet it was a flash grenade. Vision only affected for about 5 seconds so it wouldn't be that helpful to the border agents.
