According to the Census Bureau 97% of United States Citzens speak English. So what other language would be the offical language of the United States? Every Native American I have ever encountered speaks English. Should we cater to 3% of the population (and how did they become citizens without having to fulfill the requirement to speak English). English is the language of the United States. Official or not.

Currently 28 states have approved laws declaring English to be the official language. In the 110th Congress, several pieces of legislation have been proposed that would make English the official language. Both H.J. Res. 17 and H.J. Res. 19 would amend the Constitution to establish English as the official language of the United States.

Check out this video on Youtube which certainly speaks on behalf of this issue.
