HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP)- A Latino civil-rights group says a Salvadoran woman who alleges race discrimination by two Frederick County sheriff's deputies is due to be deported before her federal case is resolved.

Casa de Maryland said Wednesday that Roxana Orellana Santos is scheduled by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation Sept. 30. Her civil lawsuit against the deputies is set for a hearing four weeks later.

Casa de Maryland says deportation would preclude Santos from challenging the discrimination she claims to have suffered in 2008 when the deputies detained her for what they say was suspicious behavior. A background check revealed her illegal immigration status.

Santos claims she was singled out because of her ethnic appearance while she peacefully ate her lunch outdoors.
