Thread: Martinez: Immigration bill could save GOP

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican National Committee Chairman Sen. Mel Martinez rejected the claim that the new immigration bill will anger conservatives and destroy the GOP's chances to win in the 2008 election.

On CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer Sunday, Martinez said immigration "could be the saving of the Republican Party, frankly. And to do nothing would be the wrong thing for the American people." Martinez is optimistic that the controversial legislation will make it through Congress, and he is counting on President Bush "to get us over the finish line."

Funny, I listened to Rush today for the first time in years and he said the bill would be the end of the Republican Party.

I have said it for years we need a viable 3rd party.. or better yet.. get rid of the party system all together..

In my opinion, Martinez is full of frijoles.

Martinez needs to shut up and stay out of America'a business.

Why do I know by the last name of Martinez, how the person is going to vote. It's sad.

Yeah without a thought to the American people and how devastating it will be to us and our way of life! WEll, once again, we have been underestimated. I guess they will have to feel the wrath of the American people full force and full on , we have been easy on them compared to what we are going to be from now on!!!

Oh my gosh, all of youl, I have to say I have never worked with a greater bunch of Americans in my life, Just look at the way we all pulled together today, believe me they know they have screwed up.

We are just getting organized, today was the first time we have truely come together as a team and several new people got right in there and worked right along with us. If you don't believe it go and read the threads, where could you find more patriotic people pulling together for their country. On an internet site

We may have lost the battle today but the war is far from over!!

I will not give up the fight, infact now I know who my enemys are and that gives me an advantage.

Your all real troopers and I am proud to have fought the fight with you today!But we still have alot of work to do and no time to feel sorry for our selves, besides its not good for you!!

We have William and SiS as leaders and so many good hard working fun people that have worked their butt off, lets show some spirit, pull our selves up by the boot straps and carry on. GET MAD NOT SAD ( I made that up) At least by tomorrow morning.
