BP: Border fence climb breaks Chinese man's leg

A summary of Border Patrol activities in the Tucson Sector since Saturday, provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection:

Arrests

Naco Station agents arrested a Mexican national Saturday who was in the country illegally. A background check revealed the man was convicted for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 in Oakland, Calif. He was being prosecuted for re-entry as an aggravated felon.

In a separate incident Saturday, Naco agents arrested a 23-year-old Mexican national for illegal entry. During processing, the man was identified as a member of the Brown Pride Locos street gang. He was being criminally prosecuted for illegal entry.

Seizures

Nogales agents discovered an abandoned sedan in the near Nogales on Saturday that contained 774 pounds of marijuana worth $387,000. The pot and vehicle were seized.

A Willcox Station canine unit conducting checkpoint operations on S.R. 80 on Sunday found 51 pounds of marijuana worth $25,500 in a vehicle. The driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested on federal drug charges. The marijuana and vehicle were seized.

Naco agents assisted CBP officers in locating a truck that fled the Naco Port of Entry on Monday. Agents found the vehicle abandoned and tracked the driver to a nearby residence where they discovered 10 illegal immigrants. A Cochise County Sheriff's canine team searched the truck and found approximately 44 pounds of marijuana concealed in the tailgate. The vehicle, marijuana and driver were turned over to CBP officers. The illegal immigrants were being processed by the Border Patrol.

Rescues and recoveries

Agents from the Casa Grande Station discovered human remains Friday in a severe state of decomposition in the West Desert. The investigation was turned over to the Pima County Sheriff's Office.

Agents from the Ajo Station discovered a human skull Saturday east of Lukeville. The scene was turned over to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Casa Grande agents rescued a 17-year-old illegal immigrant in the West Desert on Sunday after receiving a 911 call for help. An agent, certified as an emergency medical technician, treated the man before he was taken to a hospital for dehydraton.

Agents assigned to the Nogales Station rescued a 21-year-old illegal immigrant Sunday from Fujhou, China, after he had fallen from the international boundary fence and had broken his left leg. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Nogales agents rescued an illegal immigrant Monday who was bitten by a snake. An agent trained as an EMT evaluated the man who was transported to a local hospital.
