Immigration Bills Advance in Tennessee House
Nashville Business Journal
Date: Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 7:05am CDT
A slate of bills aimed at curbing illegal immigration were approved by a state House committee Tuesday evening, according to WPLN 90.3 FM.
The bills would allow police to question the legal status of anyone they stop and would require employers to use the federal E-verify system to validate the citizenship status of all employees.
The Nashville Business Journal profiled some of the business concerns over Rep. Joe Carr’s proposals in this story.
The bills next advance to the Government Operations Committee in the House and to the Senate Finance Committee.
