    I believe when you have irresponsible politicians in a state such as Maryland; all other states should refuse to recognize Maryland driver's licenses as a valid form of identification.

    If other states outlaw Maryland licenses as a form of ID, I bet that state would get the message fast and change their policy. Also, any illegal that commits a crime while in possession of Maryland license should result in legal liability against the state.

    Any person who -
    (iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation;
    (v)(I) engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or (II) aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts, shall be punished…
    When you look at this passage in a cold, dispassionate way I hope you will notice that "concealing" does not necesarily contain a component of aggressive intent. Just as I can conceal my face from you by holding a sheet of paper in front of it as we are talking, so can a person conceal someone merely by having them in a building, a transportation device, or even a tent. I don't see anything in that passage that suggest malice or even deliberate intent must accompany the act of concealing. In other words we don't have to define concealing,, as contained in this statute--as being a sort of "quickly or furtively ushering someone in to a secret hiding place" but instead, merely placing them where they are not seen by public view. I think anytime an illegal alien enters a building in the US they are concealed from public view.

    I don't see anything in the language of this law that indicates acting to conceal has any adverbs. It covers both concealing and attempts to conceal, equally.

    We need to get busy and start holding people liable for concealing illegal aliens. This is clearly a violation of federal law and a threat to our own safety--as even the US State Department warns us.
