Mason murder suspect arrested, police seeking second man
BY ERIC BRADLEY | COMMUNITY PRESS STAFF WRITER
MASON -- A 30-year-old Mason man was arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of 27-year-old Kevin Barnhill, 4168 Spyglass Hill, Mason.

Humberto Rodriguez Mota is charged with complicity to commit murder.

Mota, who police said surrendered willingly, is in the Warren County Jail.

Enrique Torres, 36, of Cincinnati, is also charged with complicity to commit murder, but he remains at large.

Mason police responded to reports of a man with a baseball bat at the Mason Bowl, 763 Reading Road, at 2:30 a.m. Aug. 26.

Instead, police found Barnhill lying nearby with stab wounds, Cope said.

At least one stab wound was in Barnhill's chest, according to a report by Mason Police Officer Aaron Yeary.

Barnhill was still breathing when police found him, about a breath every 10 seconds, according to Yeary's report.

Police and responding emergency medical services crew, however, were unable to save Barnhill. He died at the scene.

Witnesses said Barnhill may have been involved in a fight with one or more people in the parking lot of the Mason Pub, 753 Reading Road.

Using information from the investigation, both Mota and Torres were brought in and questioned a number of times since the incident, Cope said.

The charges both men face carry penalties of 15 years to life in prison.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cope or Detective Jeff Burson at 229-8560.

The murder is the first in Mason since 2000, Cope said.

2 face complicity to murder charges
    THE ENQUIRER
Two men have been charged with complicity to murder in the Aug. 26 death of Kevin C. Barnhill near a Mason bar.

Humberto Rodriguez Mota, 30, of Mason, is in the Warren County jail. Enrique Torres, 36, of Cincinnati is still at large.

Mota is to be arraigned this morning in Mason Municipal Court. He also faces a charge of possession of cocaine after drugs were found on him during booking, police said.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency has ordered him held because he does not have proper immigration documents, officials said.

Mason police discovered Barnhill, 27, of Mason, lying near the rear of the Mason Pub, 753 Reading Road, around 2:30 a.m. Saturday while they were investigating a report of a man carrying a baseball bat. Police said he had been in a fight in the pub parking lot earlier.

Barnhill is a 1997 graduate of Little Miami High School and son of a Maineville Elementary School teacher.

Well, Mr. President, didn't you say in one of your speeches, your worst nightmare was that terrorist were going to sneak into america to kill Americans? Well, here you go, your greatest fears are being realized, more and more often! If you fail to count these scum illegals sneaking over our borders raping and murdering our citizens as terrorist, then you are even less a man then I thought you were, and you need to step aside and let someone who is willing to deal with these invaders as they need to be dealt with, take your place to do the job that you aren't willing to do, which is, to protect American citizens from these kind of villians!

    question

I have never seen "complicity" when someone talks about a murder. Is this a new "catch phrase"?

    Complicity
The state of being an accomplice; participation in guilt.

Just call it what it is MURDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
