May Day rallies take immigration fight to the streets

May Day rallies take immigration fight to the streets

By Brad Knickerbocker, Staff writer /
    May 1, 2010

May Day rallies around the country focusing on immigration are bringing one of the most contentious political issues to the streets this weekend.
Immigrant rights activists participate in the annual May Day rally in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. Opponents of Arizona's new immigrationlaw contend it effectively legalizes racial profiling.

From Los Angeles to New York, Chicago to Houston, hundreds of thousands of protesters in dozens of cities are marching, chanting, and in some cases engaging in civil disobedience – mostly in opposition to Arizona’s tough new law aimed at stopping illegal immigration.
In Los Angeles, police prepared for 100,000 people in a march led by Cardinal Roger Mahony, archbishop of Los Angeles.

So far, from what I have seen, they have got this one under tighter control than they have in the past.
I am curious to see the pictures and videos that always come in after the marches that show what the main stream media won't.

    Si se puede

I am still baffled and confused as to how these people who demand the right to be here have chosen "Si se puede" as their battle cry. Another one of their foolish demands that force us to understand Spanish to even know what they're saying. Go figure..........
