Mayors say Bush plan threatens border trade
PHARR, Texas Some Texas mayors believe President Bush's immigration reforms could cripple border trade by leaving Rio Grande bridges short-staffed and underfunded.
Bush tomorrow is scheduled to tour the Rio Grande Valley sector of the Border Patrol before making comments on his immigration plan.
The proposal calls for a dramatic increase in agents and detention space, a path toward citizenship for long-time illegal immigrants and a limited temporary worker program.
McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez was the only one to attend a news conference today endorsed by his counterparts in Pharr, Mission, Edinburg and Hidalgo.
Cortez says Bush's plan focuses on illegal immigration between legal ports, but neglects the need to quickly move legitimate traffic on the bridges connecting Texas and Mexico. Please support our fight against illegal immigration by joining ALIPAC's email alerts here https://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Maybe if they'd slow down with bogus documents and have some respect for our laws and do a little law enforcement on their side of the border.....maybe a faster and legal way could be established for legitiment business to cross. But as long as their mentality is only on how to break the law instead of abiding by it.......what can you do? It is so darn corrupt there and so far from being under control we have to do something to protect ourselves and so far that isn't close enough to adequate.
