TUCSON - Today Arizona's Senators, John McCain and Jon Kyl, toured the border near Douglas before holding a town hall meeting on border security.

Many people were taking a stand and voicing their concerns on border protection.

Local ranchers said they're tired of living in fear and want to see a change.

"We came down here and moved right next to the border because we love the Hispanic people and we love the area, but we should not have to live in fear of drug smugglers," said one rancher.

After touring the U.S. Mexico border earlier in the day, McCain and Kyl said while progress has been made, the border is still far from secure.

"There has to be a will to get this done, the resources can be gotten but there has to be a way," said Kyl.

"We not only need to finish the fencing, but in my view a lot of the fence needs to be replaced with a lot more modern fencing, "said McCain.

But some left the meeting still filled with doubt.

"Not sure if they can get the job done. My concern is every country needs to secure its borders; we're not, " said Jeff Gee.

On June 28, White House staffers are set to meet with Arizona governor Jan Brewer here in Arizona to discuss the plan to send 1,200 National Guard troops to the border. President Obama will not be at the meeting.
