McConnell: It's too soon to measure GOP support for bill
Senate Minority Leader says it's too soon to measure GOP support for immigration reform

Associated Press - June 12, 2007 3:23 PM ET
CAPITOL HILL (AP) - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says it's too soon to say if President Bush persuaded any Republican senators to back his immigration reform bill during his visit to Capitol Hill today.
McConnell says whether any more Republicans will support the measure will be determined by what the bill looks like in its final form.
Mississippi GOP Senator Trent Lott says the president said he won't sign a "bad bill."
Lott says the president is working the Republican senators to "get the job done" and hopes Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will do the same.
Last week Reid pulled the bill from the Senate when two efforts to cut short debate failed. Reid says he'll bring up the measure again only if Democrats are assured of more Republican backing.

Bush won't sign a "bad bill" but he'll promote and demand passage of a fatally flawed, terrible, horrendous, abhorrent, appaling, disasterous, dreadful, ghastly, hideous, odious, loathsome, repulsive, revolting, and vile bill. Sounds about right...for him.

McConnell up for reelection - needs reality check
Just sent to Mitch McConnell
George Bush cannot regain our trust but he has the responsibility to protect Americans by securing the border.
If he wants to salvage anything from a failed presidency, he must do this at once.
But, even a last minute appropriation of money for securing the border which should have happened long ago will not make us trust anyone who votes for S.1348.
WE WILL CONTINUE TO CALL, FAX, EMAIL THE SENATE UNTIL THIS NASTY PIECE OF LEGISLATURE DIES A HORRIBLE DEATH IN THE SENATE.
