MCSO Human Smuggling Unit Arrests 20 Illegal Immigrants

PHOENIX - The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Human Smuggling Unit arrested 20 more illegal immigrants during an investigation in the north valley.

According to MCSO, the suspects agreed to pay between $1,400 and $2,500 for entry into the U.S. and their destinations to be were in Las Vegas and California.

They were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on felony human smuggling charges.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says Operation Desert Sky has netted 274 arrests and over 3,800 pounds of drugs.

He anticipates terminating Desert Sky in the near future and will launch another crime suppression operation in Maricopa County cities.
