MCSO Raids 2 Restaurants for ID Fraud

MESA - Sheriff's deputies served search warrants on two Moreno's Mexican Grill locations Friday, in Mesa and in Chandler.

Between both businesses, deputies were looking for up to 14 employees suspected of using falsified identification to secure employment.

At the end of the day, 7 people were arrested on suspicion of using false identification.

"Out of this restaurant -- 5 out of 8 are illegally in this country that we believe," Sheriff Arpaio said of the Mesa location. "And out of the other one 2 out of 4."

"With the unemployment problem maybe they will hire legitimate US citizens now to fill the five vacancies here and not hire those in this country illegally."

Sheriff Arpaio said his office received a tip about the restaurants 5 months ago. The investigation is ongoing.

Maricopa County Sheriff deputies say they've raided two restaurants and arrested seven people on suspicion of using false identification.

The raids were conducted around noon Friday at Moreno's Mexican Grills. One location is in Mesa and the other in Chandler.

The Arizona Republic says five out of eight employees at the Mesa restaurant were arrested along with two of the four employees in Chandler.

County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his office received a tip about the restaurants five months ago.

Arpaio says it was the 53rd employer-sanction raid his office has conducted.

Sheriff's officials say their investigation will continue for at least a couple of days.

They're looking into whether the employer knew about the false identification and whether other employees may have been using fake IDs.

There must be some really dumb buisness owners in AZ. They know Sheriff Joe is sooner or later going to bust them.

What a joy to live in a town whereby the local Sheriff actually takes the crimes of identity / job theft by illegal invaders seriously. California could use about 100 Sheriff Joes!
