Maryland County Looking to Pass Tough Immigration Enforcement Measures
Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 11:40 AM EST - posted on NumbersUSA

The President for the Frederick County Board of Commissioners is saying that he wants to enact the toughest immigration policies in the state of Maryland. Blaine Young said he wants to make the county "the most unfriendly county in the state of Maryland to illegal aliens" and the county would "wear that with a badge of honor."

Maryland has rolled out the red carpet to illegal aliens over the past several years. Just this past year, the state legislature passed a in-state tuition ordinance and several counties and municipalities have approved sanctuary policies. But for the last several years, Frederick County has participated in the Department of Homeland Security's 287(g) program and Sheriff Charles A. "Chuck" Jenkins has turned over more than 1,000 illegal aliens to federal agents.

The Board of Commissioners is looking to enact ordinances that will make it difficult for illegal aliens to find work in the county or to rent.

"We are going to do everything legally possible," Young said.

A broad proposal before the Board of Commissioners would make English the official county language, ban day laborer sites, prohibit landlords from renting to illegal immigrants, and require businesses to verify that their employees are allowed to work in the U.S. County officials are also considering ways to find the immigration status of children attending Frederick County schools.

In response to the state passing an in-state tuition bill, grassroots organizers collected more than 100,000 signatures in an effort to repeal the law through a ballot initiative.

It sure would be great to see a County win against Casa de Mexico... (aka Casa de Maryland)
