ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP)

The Maryland Senate has advanced a bill that would deny state IDs to all illegal immigrants, setting up a clash with the state House that favors creating a two-license system.
The House measure would allow illegal immigrants who already have a Maryland ID to renew their licenses and receive a distinct-looking card that could not be used to board airplanes or enter federal buildings. Illegal immigrants who do not already have identification would not be able to obtain it after April 19, in the House measure.

State lawmakers in both chambers could have a final vote on each version of the bill as soon as tonight.
