MD - Single-member Hispanic district proposed
STATE REPUBLICANS ARE FUMING OVER THIS......OUR DISTRICTS HAVE BEEN DISMANTLED (BY OUR DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR) TO THE POINT THAT TWO REPUBLICAN DISTRICTS ARE NOW COMBINED WITH DEMOCRATIC DISTRICTS, MAKING THOSE TWO DISTRICTS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR REPUBLICANS TO EVER WIN AGAIN, AND NOW ANOTHER DISTRICT IS PROPOSED IN HOPES TO CATER TO HISPANICS ONLY (THIS DISTRICT AREA IS A KNOWN SANCTUARY AREA FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS)
Maryland Redistricting Maps Released
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- For the first time in state history, a single-member Hispanic legislative district is proposed as part of Maryland's redistricting plan, as seen in redistricting maps released Friday. Planning officials released on Friday statewide maps of redrawn state legislative districts in Maryland.Among the changes includes a first-ever single-member Hispanic district to be located in Prince George's County. The Governor's Redistricting Advisory Committee, tasked with redrawing the state's legislative districts based on the 2010 Census data, identified District 47B as containing more than 63 percent Hispanic residents.
Also under the proposal, Carroll County would get its own Senate district, and a large portion of Baltimore District 44 would encompass more of Baltimore County to show population loss in the city. The committee's maps reduce by one the number of districts that cross county lines to 13. According to state planning officials, the proposal would include 12 majority African-American districts -- an increase from 10 in 2002 -- and four other districts in which minority residents represent a majority. The committee is holding a public hearing Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Joint Hearing Room, Legislative Services Building, in Annapolis.Planning officials said the redrawn districts "reflects the demographics of the state, the population trends that have occurred over the past decade and the extensive public comments that the committee heard from hundreds of Marylanders."The governor is expected to formally introduce the plan to the General Assembly on the first day of the 2012 legislative session, Jan. 11, after which time lawmakers will have 45 days to approve the governor's plan or pass an alternative plan.

That's the problem. Prince George's County (the district that is in question here) has a very large illegal alien population. They have a sanctuary policy in place, and the pro-illegal alien group Casa de Maryland has a base there (Casa de maryland assists illegal aliens in finding jobs, obtaining government assistance, bails illegal aliens out of jail, etc). One study documented that In Prince George's County, programs to teach "immigrant students" English cost the county more than $66 million per year. There is a VERY large illegal population in that particular area.
The Senator of that district, Victor Ramirez (whose family "came here" from El Salvador) is very much pro-illegal...he has been fighting for in-state tuition for illegal aliens for years, and when any issue comes up regarding stricter enforcement of our immigration laws, he takes over the Annapolis State House by bringing bus loads of illegal aliens to fill the meeting hall.
He protested against a bill here in Maryland presented last year that would require proof of legal residence to vote in our elections, and with him spearheading that issue, the bill was eventually turned down so his hoards of questionable Hispanic residents could continue voting for him.
And now he has a area all to himself that will be a single-member Hispanic district.Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"........

There should be NO pandering to any ethnic group in any state as far as districting. I am suprised that the rest of the state has not filed suit for racial favoritism. Obama and his bandits are not going to allow anything to upset the latino community there or anywhere else. Expect blocks and payoffs by the whitehouse to keep the latinos on top

Another problem with this "redistricting" and allowing Prince George's County to have a single-member Hispanic district is this particular county borders against Montgomery County, which is currently a "sanctuary county" in Maryland.
Here is some very disturbing information about this county:
Now that these two counties pander to illegal aliens, it seems as if their presence will just spread as their "power" grows:
(The article below is from April of this year)
Maryland County wants to remain a sanctuary for illegal aliens
Dave Gibson
Immigration Reform Examiner April 27, 2011
On Tuesday, Montgomery County Council member Nancy Navarro, along other council members introduced a resolution opposing the implementation of the Secure Communities program. The federal program mandates localities to submit the fingerprints of all arrestees and identifies illegal aliens in for deportation.
Montgomery County, which is reportedly home to a third of the state’s Latino population, has yet to participate in Secure Communities.
Council member Nancy Navarro said her resolution would urge police to continue to only report “individuals who have been charged with a violent crime, rather than all individuals who have been arrested for any offense, which could include traffic and other offenses.”
Navarro told NBC Washington: “It sends a message to the community that everybody can be a target and therefore disproportionally affects the ability to collaborate with law enforcement,” she said. “I don’t think it’s what we want to do in Montgomery County.”
The resolution has the support of Council President Valerie Ervin.
Public pressure after several high profile murders were committed by illegal aliens in Montgomery County forced county officials to change their policy in reporting criminal aliens to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However, as Judicial Watch has pointed-out, Montgomery County police only report illegal aliens to the feds when they have been arrested for a very serious crime such as rape or murder.
Illegal aliens arrested for burglary, simple assault, and most weapons violations are still not reported to ICE for deportation. Just as with any offender, bail is set for them and they are released back onto the streets to either commit more crimes in the county or to flee elsewhere.
On February 16, 2010, police in Prince William County, Virginia, filed charges against Marcos Banegas , 26, for forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual battery on an 8-year-old girl. The Honduran national has been on the run ever since, and remains at large.
It was a crime that could have been prevented if police in Montgomery County, Maryland, would have reported him to Immigration and Customs Enforcement when they had Banegas in custody. A year before he was charged with raping the girl in Virginia, he was arrested for second-degree assault on a child in Maryland.
However, because Montgomery County had an official policy against the police notifying ICE of a suspect’s illegal immigration status, Banegas was simply released after the charges were dropped by the girl’s mother, who was apparently dating Banegas. Of course, Banegas would have been set free anyway by Montgomery County. Evidently, assaults are not considered violent enough.
A few months ago, Montgomery County spokesman Patrick Lacefield defended the policy, telling the Washington Examiner: “People need to be held responsible for the crimes they commit. Reporting every single crime would be putting county police in the position of enforcing federal immigration policy.”
