MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis, Tennessee, police and federal agents say they have confiscated more than a half-ton of marijuana, a kilogram of cocaine and a half-(m)-million dollars in cash.

The arrests yesterday also netted weapons, two tractor-trailers and ten other vehicles.

Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin describes the drug distribution network as a "straight from Mexico to Memphis operation."

Local police, the F-B-I and the D-E-A have been watching and say the operation smuggled drugs from Mexico to Memphis three or four times a month for gangs from Arkansas to North Carolina.

The names of the suspects weren't immediately released, but an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency official says four of them are illegal immigrants.
