It should also be noted that 40% of them had previous arrests. When they refer to "their first time in jail", it means the first time in THAT jail. They had been in jail in other places.

The local talk show, Michael DelJourno chewed up the Tennessean really good today. He pointed out the bias of the article and people kept calling in, saying they went by the paper and cancelled their subscription. A lot of people are dropping the paper. I guess they will get the message.

But immigration lawyer Mario Ramos said many of the immigrants who come to Nashville are essentially economic refugees.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN "ECONOMIC REFUGEE."

What an idiot lawyer. Wonder how many clients of his actually got legal status. Sheesh.

Good, maybe they can sell subscriptions to the illegal aliens!

He acknowledges that some who ask him for help entered or stayed in the country without authorization. But he said they are otherwise law-abiding, hard-working people who are fleeing home countries where the average income is often less than $1,000 a year.
And how is that our problem? If that's all they can make, then they shouldn't have as many children. The seem to have $3000 each to pay smugglers don't they?

Circulation doesn't pay for a paper; advertising does.
Advertisers are Chamber of Commerce types.
A paper can't offend its primary source of revenue.

One man's terrorist is another man's undocumented worker.

Unless we enforce laws against illegal aliens today,
tomorrow WE may wake up as illegals.

The last word: illegal aliens are ILLEGAL!

That may be true but if the circulation drops dramatically, advertisers aren't going to spend money on ads that people aren't looking at.
