Mexican agents accused of migrant abuse

Mexican agents accused of migrant abuse

    Associated Press - December 31, 2008 3:53 PM ET

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico's National Human Rights Commission says immigration agents locked a group of Central American migrants in a trailer after they refused to pay a bribe.

The commission is asking for a government investigation into the alleged abuse committed Feb. 14, 2007, against 10 Guatemalans and two Salvadorans, including a minor.

The commission says in a release Wednesday that the agents demanded each migrant pay $110 in exchange for being allowed to continue their illegal journey to the United States.

When the migrants refused, the agents allegedly locked them in a tractor-trailer for six hours. The commission says many were at the point of passing out.

Immigration officials could not be reached for comment.

I hope they deported them back to Central America instead of letting them continue northward.

I am willing to bet someone from the incoming administration called our Mexican government masters and asked to let them proceed north for promised stimulus jobs for illegal aliens.
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.
