Mexican Prez Slams US Border Wall

Mexico, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) At a meeting with a bilateral entrepreneurial organization Tuesday, Mexican President Felipe Calderon criticized the 745-mile, 1.3 billion dollar border wall the US is building to prevent illegal immigration from Mexico.

Calderon spoke to applause from US businesspeople, in front of US Ambassador to Mexico Antonio Garza, when he said it would be more useful to build a mile of road in Zacatecas, Michoacan and Jalisco than a wall on the northern border.

Calderon took advantage of Garza s presence at the American Chamber-Mexico meeting, which represents, promotes and develops trade and investment between the two countries, to send a message to President George W. Bush and the NAD Bank.

He demanded that the bank, which operates with Canadian and US funds, and the president reduce restrictions and boost cooperation.

Calderon declared himself in favor of turning Mexico into the fifth emerging nation with majority foreign investment, which is a path to development respecting democracy and public security.

Calderon s statements came at the opening of the Sixth National Convention of the American Chamber of Commerce, in response to demands for reform made by Simon Diaz Avalos, head of this oldest entrepreneurial organization outside the United States.

it's funny, if they need roads in mexico, why don't they just pay for their own roads, instead of thinking if the USA has that kind of money for a border wall, why can't we build roads for them.

A wall would be more useful to the USA than roads in mexico.

Build your own damn roads, stop trying to spend our money for your own greedy needs!!

I just love this bickering and arguing among these NAU fools. We should try to encourage more of it and maybe try and contribute to more of it, too! May have to get a little creative here!.

Yea, they want their cake and eat it too. Their stubborness may end up being something that eventually derails the NAU--with any luck.

As far as I can tell, Mexico is brilliant for suckering the US into believing how poor they are and how needy they are. Like fools, we are depleting our time, money and resources in hopes of taking advantage of them, when in fact they are taking advantage of us. I think so many Americans feel like they are above Mexicans, that we are willing to sacrifice our country as we play king and queen, in our own minds. If we lose our country, we have no one to blame but ourselves...because as a whole, we are ignorant, and don't deserve the benefits that we have. More people are worried about being Paris Hilton or an American Idol, than worrying about the state of our country. It makes me sad.

Mexico could build the autobahn with all of that drug money coming out of their country. They don't need our help, I think we need theirs.
