Associated Press Deletes Dream Act Amnesty Defeat!

Check this out folks. The Associated Press is the largest news wire service in the world.

We have monitored them censoring information time and time again or just heavily biasing articles in favor of illegal alien Amnesty and Globalism.

Check this out. According to the primary Associated Press article going out right now in America, the Dream Act Amnesty was not even part of the equation on what happened to day!

    Can you believe this!?!?!

Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban

By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer Anne Flaherty, Associated Press Writer – 9 mins ago

WASHINGTON – Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked legislation that would have repealed the law banning gays from serving openly in the military.

The partisan vote was a defeat for Senate Democrats and gay rights advocates, who saw the bill as their last chance before November's elections to overturn the law known as "don't ask, don't tell."

With the 56-43 vote, Democrats fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation. It also would have authorized $726 billion in defense spending including a pay raise for troops.

Senate Democrats attached the repeal provision to the defense bill in the hopes that Republicans would hesitate to vote against legislation that included popular defense programs. But GOP legislators opposed the bill anyway, thwarting a key part of the Democrats' legislative agenda.

Now, gay rights advocates say they worry they have lost a crucial opportunity to change the law. If Democrats lose seats in the upcoming elections this fall, repealing the ban could prove even more difficult — if not impossible — next year.

"The whole thing is a political train wreck," said Richard Socarides, a former White House adviser on gay rights during the Clinton administration.

Socarides said President Barack Obama "badly miscalculated" the Pentagon's support for repeal, while Democrats made only a "token effort" to advance the bill.

"If it was a priority for the Democratic leadership, they would get a clean vote on this," he said.

Democratic Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas sided with Republicans to block the bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also voted against the measure as a procedural tactic. Under Senate rules, casting his vote with the majority of the Senate enables him to revive the bill at a later date if he wants.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine had been seen as the crucial 60th vote because she supports overturning the military ban. But Collins agreed with her GOP colleagues that Republicans weren't given sufficient chance to offer amendments.

Reid allowed Republicans the opportunity to offer only one amendment to address GOP objections on the military's policy on gays.

Collins said she planned to vote against advancing the bill unless Democrats agreed to extend debate so that her colleagues could weigh in on other issues.

Jim Manley, a spokesman for Reid, said the senator would be willing to allow more debate on the bill after the November elections.

"Today's vote isn't about arcane Senate procedures," Manley said. "It's about a GOP's pattern of obstructing debate on policies important to the American people."

An estimated 13,000 people have been discharged under the law since its inception in 1993. Although most dismissals have resulted from gay service members outing themselves, gay rights' groups say it has been used by vindictive co-workers to drum out troops who never made their sexuality an issue.

I did not see it listed at the bottom of the screen on C SPAN either. Only the DADT.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell is just the excuse for not passing this bill. Actually, I think the Dems threw the gays under the bus and are now blaming them for the bill not advancing, when it was really the more inflammatory Dream Act.

Really, in America how many people care about Don't Ask, Don't Tell?

Probably not very many, especially compared to Amnesty for illegal aliens.

The DADT was originally implemented by the Democrats under Clinton to "protect gays" in the military. Now undoing it will be "fair" to gays in the military. Guess they really didn't need that "protection" after all. Make up your mind Democrats!

Not to mention, do people really need to be talking about their sexual orientation, while at work and on the job, even in the military? It could be considered unwanted and improper conversation in the civilian workforce and at the very worst sexual harassment.

I don't think some of you are understanding the Senate and Senate Procedures very well.

The Dream Act had NOT EVEN BEEN attached to the defense bill. It had NOT AS YET been offered as an amendment.

All that was on the floor was the Defense Authorization which included a version of the repeal of DADT.

Senatore Reid said that IF the bill proceded to the floor he would attach 3 amendments ( Dream Act, new version of DADT, and an abortion amendment). That was all that could be debated. The motion that was voted on was to allow the bill to come to the floor.

He did say he would allow OTHER AMENDMENTS in the Lame Duck Session AFTER the elections.

So the Dream Act was not even on the bill - it was strictly a procedural vote and one of the objection was Harry Reid playing politics by not allowing any amendments until the Lame Duck.

    judyweller,

You are correct, however blocking the bill is a way of trying to get the amendment removed and I believe the sponsor can voluntary remove/withdraw it. If I remember correctly, Kennedy pulled a similar stunt with CIR as an amendment.

It's all procedural maneuvering. Everyone in the Senate knows this bill will pass and that's exactly why Reid is trying to attach this garbage to it. Also, these amendments are all Democrat political agenda stuff. In truth, Harry can manipulate the amendment process in December too. He wont do the right thing now and he wont do it then, especially if he doesn't get re-elected.

AP, what a piece of work this is. NO mention of Dream Act. Our media is no longer a functioning news service except for Fox News. Unbelievable. Everyone should sit up and take notice.
