US urges court to uphold order on AZ immigration law
US urges court to uphold order on AZ immigration law

PHOENIX - The U.S. Department of Justice is urging an appeals court to uphold a judge's order blocking key provisions of Arizona's law targeting illegal immigration.
A brief filed late Thursday with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says Arizona's law intrudes on federal authority to regulate immigration, hinders cooperation between state and federal officials and wrongly burdens legal immigrants.
Provisions blocked by a federal judge include one requiring immigrants to obtain or carry immigration registration papers. Another would require police, while enforcing other laws, to question people's immigration status if there is a reasonable suspicion they're in the country illegally.
A Nov. 1 hearing is scheduled in San Francisco for arguments on the appeal.

I hope the court takes the time to read Article !, Section 9 of the US Constitution which makes it as clear as can be that states not the federal government are responsible for deciding who migrates to their state and who can be an imported worker. All the f3ds can do is stop one or the other or both.
