AL: Panel releases recommendations for IA crackdown

Panel releases recommendations for illegal immigrant crack down
    ERIN STOCK

The state should discourage illegal immigrants from coming to Alabama and enforce English as the state’s official language in public schools, a state legislative commission said in a report released Tuesday.

The Joint Interim Patriotic Immigration Commission, formed last summer by the Legislature, listed 25 suggestions and recommended that lawmakers support stricter enforcement of current laws and pursue others to crack down on illegal immigration.

Some legislators have said they will turn some of the suggestions into legislation to be considered in the current session.

The suggestions from the commission were developed after members heard public concerns at four hearings across the state and collected data from state agencies on the impact of immigration in Alabama. The commission was formed in summer 2007.

The recommendations, which deal with work force, public health, public safety, public education and legal matters, also say the state should study and implement a reliable employment verification system, ensuring that it doesn’t conflict with federal standards. The system should be implemented first for state and local government contracts and agencies to evaluate its effectiveness, the commission wrote in its report.

At the same time, U.S. Congress should develop a comprehensive guest worker program and support an employee verification system that works, the report stated.

“We just want a reliable method to verify the workers, but we do not want to comply with a system that’s currently broken,â€

    AL: Panel releases

The states and local governments have been FORCED to address the illegal alien problem.
The 1986 Amnesty promised workplace enforcement and border security-much like the McCain Amnesty bill.

The Federal Government has betrayed the American Citizen Taxpayer by allowing millions to enter, placing workplace enforcement into the hands of greedy employers, and placing the cost of educating, healthcare, and incarceration and welfare benefits on the backs of law abiding Americans.

Should we just continue to grant legal status to anyone who wants to come? The background checks promised in 1986 were a joke. Everyone knows documents were forged and aliases were used. Why should we believe a new Amnesty plan will be better and HOW WILL THAT STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION?

X-president candidate Edwards would like to see poverty wiped out in America. How is this possible with millions of uneducated, unskilled, unimmunized, people coming into our country each year, bringing children with them?

This whole issue is out of control. The best way to stop it it to insist every state use e-verify for ALL new hires iimediately, and to verify ALL previous hires within 2 years. If your Social Security number comes up as invalid-you go to the nearest SS Office and get it staightened out.

There are over 8 million Social Security mismatches, meaning names and numbers don't match records. Do you think it is a coincidence that the IRS has issued 8 million ITIN numbers to people without valid SS Numbers? And there are others using valid numbers belonging to US citizens.

In all the Amnesty plans I've seen, there is never a cap on how many people can apply. The gov says there are 12 million illegals. What if 40 million apply? The process of verification of documents and background checks will be too much to handle, so everyone gets legalization.

Why not set high standards on any guest worker program. No one who has entered illegally can apply. No one who has ever used a false document to obtain work. No one who has a ticket for no license or insurance, moving violations or auto accidents is eligible. Of course an extensive background check must be required. Most importantly, the guest worker HAS TO LEAVE after 2-3 years. No family can come, however the guest worker can go home for visits.

In Texas, we are losing the battle to the invaders. No one will pass local enforcement ordinances in Houston. No e-verify. Most cops don't even write tickets to illegals driving without license and insurance because they know illegals just throw the ticket away. Insurance companies charge insured drivers extra to cover accidents caused by uninsured illegal drivers. Most of the food panty and aid agencies to aid the poor are overwhelmed. The public clinics look like what you would see in Mexico city.

This is an outrage to me. I have written many politicians. Nothing happens. Every time a state tries to address the problems of illegal immigration-the illegal immigrants are allowed to fight it. WHY?
Is the Mexican government and our own government funding these legal fights? YES THEY ARE.

To me, it is the same as a bank robber claiming that laws against bank robbery discriminate against people who need money.
