    Mexican consulates say ICE should advise immigrants of rights

    Mexico’s consulates in Southern California accused U.S. immigration officials on Thursday of failing to adequately inform undocumented immigrants of the right to contact their country’s consulate when they were arrested during two weeks of raids.

    In a statement, consulates in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Ventura counties said they had no way to determine how many Mexican citizens were deported in the raids, which U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said led to 1,327 arrests.

    “While Mexican consular authorities recognize that U.S. immigration agencies have the right to enforce the law, they deplore that the practices used don’t allow adequate communication or coordination within the context of international law and practice, and impede effective consular action that would have allowed prompt assistance to the detainees,â€

    And we should tell all of the Mexican consulates to stay the hell out of our affairs and advise the millions of their citizens to get the hell out of our country!

    Mexico’s consul in Santa Ana, Luis Miguel Ortiz Haro, said he has received reports from deported Mexican citizens who say they were never given the option of seeing a consular officer.
    I suppose this is patterned after the procedure they use in Mexico to deport Guatemaleans???
