House immigration hearings in El Paso 8-17-06

You can catch your own 'replay' of the field hearing held earlier today in El Paso TX from the following link - courtesy of C-Span's web site:

    jean:

Don't know what the problem with the direct link is, but try this instead:

Use the 2nd link in my earlier post, and then look through the entries in the displayed page. The one that shows the video is, last time I checked, the 4th one from the top of the list. (I'm using FireFox for reference here, so your experience might differ somewhat...)

Oh, yeah, the total video is 2:53 and of course a fast connection would be a very good thing. Hope this helps/good luck...

Yes, I clicked on that 4th link and get the 'page cannot be displayed' message. I do have a fast connection. Just tried again and same problem. ??? Darn, wanted to see it too.

I saw it and Rep. Sheila Jackson (D-TX) is a real pro-illegal immigrant witch! She most certainly has amnesty on the brain. Actually, she reminded me of that Georgia witch McKinney (D-GA) that just got dumped in the primary.

I'm currently listening to the first link with a Real player and not having any problems. Haven't had a chance to check out the second one yet.

    Brian503a:

The second link from my post is just the 'entry' page which includes the direct link for the video - they both refer basically to the same video. Just different ways of getting 'at it' - that's all. HTH

    jean:

It sounds like you don't have RealPlayer installed.

Assuming your system is a Windows 'box'... - (yes, the non-conformists using Mac, Linux, UNIX, etc. are duly noted...I've done some of those too...) You can check quite easily by either:

a). Click <Start> and then when the popup menu appears, Click <Run>
Then, type 'Realplay.exe' into the text box labeled 'Open'.
Click OK after entering the text of course.
(assumes the install path is in system path)

If you receive an error message like: "Windows cannot find realplay.exe Make sure you typed the name correctly,...." you most likely do not have it installed.

b). If you're more comfortable browsing the file system - use Explorer (file manager) to check for a directory ('folder') as the following:
C:\Program Files\Real\RealOne Player (that is where my version is installed)

If you don't have a similar path/folder, well, you probably don't have it.

It appears that C-Span only posts Realplayer format videos by what I could see from the web page - sorry, it's inconvenient for those that normally rely on MS Media Player.... looks like those folks are 'left out'
