TUCSON, Ariz. - A Mexican citizen wanted for homicide has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Arizona. Miguel Reynoso Vidauri is being held in federal custody without bond, awaiting extradition to Mexico.

U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke says that Vidauri has admitted to murdering a man in Zacatecas, Mexico, back in Nov. 2009. Vidauri is accused of shooting Ricardo Alfonso Acosta Mercando several times, stemming from a dispute over a woman.

Vidauri was detained in Arizona by ICE agents while attempted to enter the U.S. on foot, at the San Luis Port of Entry.

He told agents that he knew of the Mexican arrest warrant and admitting to killing the victim. A federal judge in Tucson also issued an arrest warrant for Vidauri -- because of the extradition treaty between the U.S. and Mexico.

"Our close work with our counterparts in Mexico is ensuring that he is returned to face justice. Neither country should be a safe harbor for the other's accused murderers," said Burke.
