Mexican nationals will be able to give their country's state-issued identification cards as valid ID to Santa Rosa police officers and Sonoma County sheriffs the same as a California license.

In Sonoma County, a California driver's license is accepted as valid identification -- but so is a card issued by the Mexican consulate.

The idea is to reduce the immigration-related duties of local cops, the newspaper reported. Accepting Mexican consulate-issued cards will reduce the number of people booked into jail for lacking ID, and ergo, will reduce deportations from Santa Rosa County Jail, the newspaper reported.

"Today is a great day," Sonoma County Assistant Sheriff Lorenzo Dueñas said. "We're now going to accept the matriculár consular ID."

Advocates for immigrants point out that almost half of the 921 immigrants turned over to ICE authorities by the jails had not committed a crime, and another third had committed minor offenses, the newspaper reported.

Mexican nationals will need to apply to the consulate for such a card. The consulate will likely set up shop in the area to both issue cards and instruct people how to do so, the newspaper reported.

I have to give a fingerprint to get a CA ID.

Has the water out there got something in it that causes loss of common sense ? No offense to any DECENT person living there , I know there are a few left. But it seems that the fence should turn north at the Arizona line and run to Oregon.
If Texas ever degenerated to the level of Clownafornia I would seriously consider moving. At least they cannot get a drivers License anymore after this last year.
I feel the pain of any Americans still left out there.

To slash deportations and arrests for traffic offenses or lacking identification, law enforcement agencies in a major U.S. county are accepting Mexican consular cards—determined by the FBI to be unreliable and highly susceptible to fraud—as valid ID.

The move comes just a few days after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) union official told Congress that agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens who don’t have criminal convictions, even when they’ve been deported by a judge. Chris Crane, president of a union that represents ICE officers, revealed the mandate while testifying before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration last week, according to a news report.

The outrageous federal decree is clearly part of President Obama’s stealth amnesty plan that’s already spared thousands of illegal immigrants from removal and will surely allow many more to remain in the U.S. To further the cause, California’s Sonoma County is officially accepting the fraud-prone Mexican card known as matriculár consular ID to shield illegal aliens from federal authorities.

A coalition of influential open borders activists requested the move and authorities in the northern California county with a population of about 470,000 came through this week. They announced the new policy at a rowdy pep rally where the county’s assistant sheriff proclaimed; “today is a great day. We’re now going to accept the matriculár consular ID.â€

Using similar logic , I have solved the problem of the need for more police officers. Joe Biden claims rape and murder will escalate if we do not " PASS THIS BILL NOW !" Decriminalize rape and murder and problem solved. Perhaps we could issue licenses for these " occupations" and generate income there?

This was a big surprise to most of us here....we didn't see it coming.....and most aren't happy about it either! Aren't a lot of those ID's fake?
