U.S. BORDER PATROL Weekly Blotter: (12/30/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 2,717 pounds of marijuana and 462 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested 5 criminal aliens and 2 gang members. There were 5 rocking incidents.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador in El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a prior conviction for unlawful sex with a minor in the state of California. The subject had also been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 210 pounds of marijuana near Douglas, Arizona. Agents observed an ultra light aircraft drop a basket of suspected contraband in the United States and return to Mexico. Agents searched the suspected drop zone and discovered the marijuana wrapped in bundles.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had pending charges for sex with a minor in the state of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents discovered a deceased subject near Leakey, Texas while investigating an abandoned Toyota Camry. The Real County Sheriff's Department assumed custody of the scene. The subject was later identified as United States Citizen (USC) who was the registered owner of the vehicle and the subject of a missing persons report.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history including a criminal conviction for unlawful sex with a minor.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC and seized 1,246 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban during a vehicle stop in Brownsville, Texas. Agents noticed bundles being loaded into the vehicle near the Rio Grande River and initiated a vehicle stop. The driver led agents on a brief foot pursuit before being arrested.


Swanton Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC and seized 56.9 pounds of ecstasy tablets, 47 pounds of marijuana, and a GMC pickup truck subsequent to a vehicle stop near Massena, New York. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and agents discovered the contraband in the fuel tank.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Cowlic, Arizona. Record checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala in the brush near Freer, Texas. Records checks revealed that the alien was the subject of an extraditable warrant for 1st Degree Rape issued out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two Cuban nationals and seized 462.7 pounds of heroin and a tractor-trailer at the checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico. After noticing registration discrepancies, agents referred the driver to a secondary inspection area. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed the heroin hidden in eight boxes.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks indicated the subject is a Paisas gang member and had been previously removed from the Unites States.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,214 pounds of marijuana and a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck near Fronton, Texas. Agents located the truck abandoned near the Rio Grande River and discovered 135 bundles of marijuana. The driver of the vehicle was observed absconding back to Mexico.
