ROCK HILL, S.C.-- A day supposed to be filled with another pleasant summertime memory becomes a tragic end to a promising life. 15-year-old Christopher Lanier was killed while riding his dirt bike Friday night; the driver fled the scene. "He was a good kid a good kid. Obviously this is going to take some time heal," says one of his teachers from Northwestern High School who didn’t want to be identified. "Chris was great kid, very energetic, very well spoken," says the teacher.

Lanier was out with friends, riding the dirt bike along Adnah Road. Police say that’s when a dark colored Ford extend cab truck with chrome wheels struck the teen, drove over him and kept going. Lanier was rushed to Presbyterian Medical Center, but died from his injuries. Now, State Highway Police have placed a sign where Lanier was hit to ask the public's help.

Police say there might be slight damage to the left front of the truck. Nothing compared to what some say is the damage caused by one reckless act. "They had no business running. They should of just stayed there and tried to help."

Update: The South Carolina Highway patrol has made and arrest in this case. They have arrested and charged Santiago Solis with leaving the scene of a deadly accident and not having a SC driver's license. There is no word on a court date or bond at this point.
