ROCK HILL, S.C.-- A day supposed to be filled with another pleasant summertime memory becomes a tragic end to a promising life. 15-year-old Christopher Lanier was killed while riding his dirt bike Friday night; the driver fled the scene. "He was a good kid a good kid. Obviously this is going to take some time heal," says one of his teachers from Northwestern High School who didn’t want to be identified. "Chris was great kid, very energetic, very well spoken," says the teacher.
Lanier was out with friends, riding the dirt bike along Adnah Road. Police say that’s when a dark colored Ford extend cab truck with chrome wheels struck the teen, drove over him and kept going. Lanier was rushed to Presbyterian Medical Center, but died from his injuries. Now, State Highway Police have placed a sign where Lanier was hit to ask the public's help.
Police say there might be slight damage to the left front of the truck. Nothing compared to what some say is the damage caused by one reckless act. "They had no business running. They should of just stayed there and tried to help."
Update: The South Carolina Highway patrol has made and arrest in this case. They have arrested and charged Santiago Solis with leaving the scene of a deadly accident and not having a SC driver's license. There is no word on a court date or bond at this point.

Police in Rock Hill say they know who's responsible for a hit-and-run that left a York County teenager dead Friday night.
Authorities arrested Santiago Solis late Saturday. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident involving a death and not having an S.C. driver's license. The first charge carries up to 25 years. Solis is also being held due to his illegal immigrant status.
15-year old Christopher Lanier was dirt bike riding with his friends on Adnah Church Road when the Ford pickup truck knocked him off his bike and kept going.
His friends who were riding behind him watched the whole thing. A witness was able to get a tag number, which is ultimately how troopers tracked down Solis.
Lanier was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.
Highway Patorl found the pickup truck abandoned off of Eastview Road in Rock Hill.
ICE assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol with its investigation.
