Press release submitted by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa
Davenport, IA -- On January 18, 2008, Ezequiel Oronia-Vera, 31, of Mexico, was sentenced to 1 day imprisonment for fraud and misuse of documents (Count 1) and 24 months imprisonment for aggravated identity theft (Count 3), with the latter sentence to run consecutive to the sentence on Count 1, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker.
United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Oronia-Vera to serve a three year term of supervised release following his incarceration, and ordered him to pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund.
Oronia-Vera had earlier pled guilty to misuse of documents and was found guilty on aggravated identify theft following a bench trail. This investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
