Mexican navy arrests Gulf Cartel members

The Mexican navy on Thursday announced the arrests of 13 Gulf Cartel members in Tamaulipas; they reported seizing weapons as well as uniforms bearing the CDG — Cartel del Golfo — logo.

The first arrest took place in Valle Hermoso on Monday when the Mexican navy spotted two men acting in a suspicious manner on board two vehicles along Calle Hidalgo. Valle Hermoso is about 20 miles south of Brownsville.

The Mexican marines stopped the men and searched their vehicles, finding two assault rifles, four grenades, 47 ammunition magazines, 15,000 pesos, 10 pieces of gold jewelry, communication equipment and Gulf Cartel clothing.

On Tuesday, the Mexican navy reported arresting 11 Gulf Cartel members in La Pesca, a rural port town about 180 miles south of Brownsville. The arrest took place in a ranch called “El Zamora.â€
