Federal police rescued 12 undocumented immigrants that had been kidnapped and held for two months in Reynosa.

Police announced Saturday that two women and 10 men were rescued.

Intelligence reports coupled with collaboration from the public led federal police to a safe house located in the Esfuerzo Nacional neighborhood where the kidnapped victims were found.

The victims included four from Honduras, three from Brazil, three from El Salvador, one person from Nicaragua and one from Iran.

The victims said that the kidnappers had beaten them severely and that they had been kidnapped in the state of Chiapas and brought to Tamaulipas.

The communiqué from federal police does not provide information regarding the kidnappers.

The announcement does note, however, that the rights of the victims were at all times respected and that they were provided with food and medical attention.

In a separate rescue, the military announced that three kidnapped victims had been located and rescued at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the La Trinidad neighborhood in Ciudad Juarez.

A citizen complaint led the military to the area where they first noticed a man who tried to evade the military when he spotted troops in the area.

A search of the area resulted in finding the three kidnapped victims, all male. The military also seized four weapons, magazines, rounds of ammunition and cartridge belts.

In another operation Saturday in El Carmen, N.L., aggressors were in a firefight with the military. Two aggressors were killed. The military also seized five weapons, a grenade launcher, magazines and rounds of ammunition.
