U.S. Customs and Border Protection Seize 4,500 Pounds of Marijuana at Port of Savannah

Savannah, Ga. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Savannah seized approximately 4,500 pounds of marijuana with a domestic street value of more than $3 million.

The marijuana was discovered at the Garden City Terminal aboard a ship arriving from Jamaica.

CBP Area Port Director for Savannah John Porter said, “The marijuana was uncovered during a security sweep using high tech x-ray equipment capable of scanning entire containers.â€
