Mexico Detains 513 People Crammed Into Two US-Bound TrucksUpdated: Tuesday, 17 May 2011, 2:56 PM EDT

TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico - Police on Tuesday detained 513 undocumented migrants from Latin America and Asia who were crammed into two trucks bound for the United States, prosecutors in southeast Mexico said.
The migrants, from Latin America, Japan, China, India and Nepal, "were traveling in inhuman conditions" in the southeastern state of Chiapas, near the Guatemalan border, the local attorney general's office said in a statement.
Police stopped the trucks, carrying 240 and 273 people, on the outskirts of state capital Tuxtla Gutierrez early Tuesday, after they accelerated through a vehicle scanner at a police checkpoint, the statement said.
Officers chased down the vehicles shortly afterward, it added.
Police detained the Mexican drivers of the two trucks, and the migrants were provided with aid and food, the statement said.
Mexican lawmakers last month unanimously approved a law to "strengthen the protection and security" of migrants amid widespread abuse.
Rights groups have long criticized Mexico for failing to protect tens of thousands of migrants, mainly from Central America, trying to cross the vast country to illegally enter the US each year.
The gruesome discovery of 72 murdered migrants from Central and South America in northeastern Tamaulipas state last August increased pressure on the government to act.

Here is another example of upside down backward thinking. Yes, its a shame that the folks in the trucks were being inhumanely treated. However, they got themselves into that situation by breaking Mexican immigration law and seeking to break U.S. immigration law! What Mexico should have done was vigorously prosecuted the truck drivers and their accomplices and immediately deported the illegals back to where ever they came from!

Just think how this scenario will be played out again and again with the new cross border trucking program in place?!

Welcome geocal. As long as Obama is in the WH illegals will flock to our borders for that promised AMNESTY or to squirt out an anchor baby for the 18 year welfare prize.
You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every
respect and with every purpose of your will thoroughly Americans. You
cannot become thoroughly Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. President Woodrow Wilson

Times that by the at least 4 anchors a piece once they got here, that's preventing 2,052 from collecting welfare and stealing jobs. And you have to consider those anchors eventually having anchors and the numbers keep spreading like weeds. It's a non-stop invasion everytime an illegal sneaks accross the border! Obama praises Mex Pres Calderon for "working with the USA", so does he also applaud him for hauling off illegals in his Country?? Obama is one bean short of a burrito!<div>"Diversified"*does NOT*mean invading*our Country and forcing their culture and language,**stealing jobs,*using fake ID',s, living on government benefits, and flying their flag over ours! </div>

TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico (AP) - Authorities in mexico's southernmost state say they have rescued 513 migrants who were found in two trailer trucks bound for the United States.
Chiapas state prosecutors say they also arrested four people accused of smuggling the migrants, who are from Central and South America and Asia.
Prosecutors say police discovered the migrants Tuesday while using X-ray equipment on the trucks at a checkpoint in the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez. They say the smugglers tried unsuccessfully to escape.
Prosecutors say 410 of the migrants were grom Guatemala, 47 from El Salvador, 32 from Ecuador, 12 from India, six from Nepal, three from China and one each from Japan, the Dominican Republic and Honduras.
