Mexico offers amnesty to illegal American immigrants

Washington lawmakers have insisted the country needs to reform its immigration system, but the biggest conflict has been over how to handle illegal immigrants who have been in this country for awhile.

As it turns out, Mexico is dealing with a similar problem and they have come up with a solution.

Some Americans come to Mexico for the culture, others for the cost, from Mexican border towns to beaches.

More and more Americans make their homes in Mexico. Some entered the country with tourist visas and simply overstayed.

That means they are illegal immigrants. Right not the Mexican government is offering them the chance to come forward and fix their status without facing a penalty.

And the Mexican Consulate in El Paso has a pilot program to correct an old problem on the border: fake birth certificates.

Some Mexican parents of U.S.-born children used fake Mexican birth certificates so their children could live and attend school in Mexico, too. The pilot program includes free legal services.

"That means the people can do it without any kind of fear, any kind of problem and they will be able to correct the situation," said Roberto Rodriguez Hernandez, the Mexican Consul General in El Paso.

Why do it now? Computerized records make it harder to hide the truth, and the Mexican government wants to get a better handle on its own immigration problems.

None of course to avoid criminal prosecution in the US or the cheap drugs etc .
Just like illegals here . All of them looking for a better life .

HAHAHAHA so that would mean amnesty for what? 20 people? Gimme a break! Are any of these illegal alien Americans receiving welfare, free medical, free education, other bennies from the mexican government? Are they a drain on the economy or bringing money into the economy?

Deport them. Mexico. We'll send your own citizens back.

It does to a point, espciallly at their southern border. How much you want to bet this 'amnesty' is just for Americans? They don't want their neighbors coming from the south to go to the US for work, that is something the Mexicans want for themselves.

I suspect the majority of these cases will involve illegal invaders who had anchor babies in the United States and were later deported.

Otherwise, all twenty Americans who are living in mexico illegally can come forward and have their status adjusted! Mexico is only doing this in an effort to influence US policy in respect to their 12-20 million illegal invaders currently squatting in the US.

Mexico seems to think if they implement a policy to legalize so called illegal Americans, the US will then be obligated to do the same for their invaders living in our country! Mexico does not do anything unless it's in their own best interest!

What a Joke....they think they are going to use a little reverse Phycology on us Ain't going to work....no more amnesties in the United States of America.

You beat me to it - my thoughts also - how many are drunk drivers murdering innocent Mexicans? How many are free-loading on Mexican hospitals, schools, welfare and what ever else they can? How many are marching in the streets waving Old Glory? How many refuse to learn Spanish and refuse to try to blend in? Are cash transfers from Mexico one of our largest cash sources - no, it's the other way around.

If they are caught, Mexico has really tough, unpleasant treatment for illegal aliens in their country - we should use their laws as our example for 'immigration reform'.

Haha. I thought this was a serious article until I read this sentence.

Well since Mexico doesn't give birthright citizenship to the babies of illegal aliens, this is the least they could do for all the anchor babies we have mistakenly given US citizenship to.
