Mexico says it won't sign immunity pact for U.S. troops

MEXICO CITY Mexican officials say they've made it clear to Washington that they won't agree to grant U-S military special immunity from the International Criminal Court.

President Bush opposes the International Criminal Court, which started operating in 2003. His administration argues it could be used for frivolous or politically motivated prosecutions of U-S troops.

Last year, he signed legislation to cut off hundreds of (M) millions of dollars in foreign aid to countries that belong to the court but haven't signed an immunity deal with the United States.

While Mexico has signed onto the court, Assistant Foreign Secretary Geronimo Gutierrez says his country doesn't fear any repercussions over the policy. Mexico gets almost no foreign aid from the United States.

We shouldn’t give them any aid, as a matter of a fact, they owe us money for taking care of their citizens.

    dman1200--who is "Shrub"?

What does Gutierrez mean they don't get any aid from the US? We send them $60 mm in "foreign aid" and several billion in another form of aid and over $20 Billion in transfer payments from "immigrants" working in the US.

I SAY--WOW--"you don't need it"....great to know, "we'll keep it". NOW we can deport all these aliens and send them home to Mexico and remove Mexico from the visa list. They would still be able to immigrate under normal legal procedures LIKE ANY COUNTRY...but no other way!!

I know this may be a STUPID QUESTION, but why is there an:

International Criminal Court? WHAT IS THIS COURT? And what is its purpose? There is no need for an International Criminal Court that I can determine. All "crimes" are committed in a "place" and fall under whatever laws exist of that place, right?

    War Crimes perhaps?

Forget Mexico. They are different than us. They think differently. They are in a "different place" with their development, their views, their aims, their capabilities, their "everything". They are free to think and be whoever they want to be. It's just that a close relationship with them is impossible because there is no "mutuality" to the benefits of the relationship....citizen to citizen. They want, they take, we lose, we pay. WHY would we be for that?

Friendly peaceful neighbors....that is all the relationship we need with Mexico.

Cancel all foreign aid to Mexico. Deport with Happy Meals all illegal aliens. Prosecute Lawbreakers. Enforce the Law. Secure the Borders. Build the Wall.

    Veeeery simple.

    Problem solved!

Well, I think I know where 65 million dollars could go, right into border security.
