Mexico and the United States .........A wary friendship

    A wary friendship
Jun 19th 2008 | MEXICO CITY AND WASHINGTON, DC
    From The Economist print edition

Amid bad temper and wounded pride, Mexico and the United States inch towards compromise on a plan to boost the fight against drug crime

IN AMERICAN psyches, the war with Mexico of 1846-48 is muddled in with many others, and earns no more than a passing mention in history books. By contrast, every Mexican schoolchild is taught the story of the “boy heroesâ€

This article is operating under the assumption that mexico is our "friend." Americans who are educated on this issue would not use the term "friend" in describing relations between the two countries.

But then again, this is coming from the Economist in which I have yet to find an article whereby they are critical of mexico in any way...

Mexican officials hope that the Mérida aid will bring some useful kit and send a message to the drug gangs that Mr Calderón has allies. It shows that at an official level at least, relations between Mexico and the United States are much more constructive than they were. But they remain less harmonious than those between, say, Canada and the United States. Mexico's inability to police itself, and America's prohibition of, but continued demand for, illegal migrants and drugs ensure that.
LOL! Last time we "helped" Mexico, we helped create the "Zetas"!

If anyone needs a refresher course on Los Zetas, here is an first person account from 2 of the members (from 2006, notice how they operate?):

    http://www.newschannel5.tv/2006/5/22/78 ... ak-silence

Los Zetas are mexican men trained by US Special Forces to fight the war on drugs in mexico. Instead, the Zetas took over and are the biggest, deadliest drug cartel in mexico!

Now will someone tell me WHY in the world this "Merida initiative" will work when the previous one failed so horrendously?

Is there a true Mexican government? Calderon's government is not in control of Mexico's northern states.

There is no friendship and co-operative relationship between the U.S. and Mexico. Mexico demands and the U.S. appeases.

Mexico has taken the U.S. to World Court to prevent the execution of 51 Mexican nationals sentenced to death.
Mexican consulates issue Mexican Matricula Consular cards & passports to illegal aliens, meddle in U.S. law & policies and engage in political subversion.
Mexico released the accused killer of Border Agent Luis Aguilar.
Mexico does not cooperate in all extradiction proceedings.
Mexico does nothing to secure the border--its border agents are unarmed and without radioes. They give instructions, food, water, and clothing to
    illegal aliens crossing the border.
Mexico has dual citizenship so it can affect U.S. laws & elections in its favor.

Mr Calderón launched his crackdown against the drug gangs because he thought they were imperilling public safety and the functioning of the state
    .

I believe, otherwise, he would have let sleeping dogs lie. Had the drug and human smuggling been fairly quiet and peaceful, he would have let it alone so the government could get their share, but since it is becoming violent, then he HAS to step in.

What a jerk, he is no different from Fox. Only doing what he HAS to do, all the while trying to tell us what to do with his countries invaders into our country, making demands that we keep the criminals, so his country can continue to get their remittances and he has to do little to change their system and way of living.
