Immigrant profiling? Don't worry

I'm not worried that State Reps. Debbie Riddle of Tomball and Leo Berman of Tyler will get the Texas Legislature to pass and Gov. Rick Perry to sign an Arizona-style law turning Texas police officers into La Migra.

Not only is Texas more enlightened than Arizona, but too many of our legislators, as well as the governor himself, have a tradition of receiving large contributions from homebuilders and chicken magnates who are very humanitarian when it comes to hiring immigrants.

But in the unlikely event that such legislation is passed, I'm even less worried that our Lone Star constabulary will engage in racial profiling to determine whose papers are checked.

Our officers of the law are far too creative to need such vulgar techniques.

The extent of their ability to determine who should be stopped was documented 10 years ago in an opinion, famous among criminal defense lawyers, by Judge Jacques Wiener Jr. of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The case involved illegal immigrants who were being smuggled in a van stopped by authorities near Del Rio.

Way too many Pro-ILLEGAL comments on the source article but Houston is a Santcuary City with Special Interst Groups that benefit from their ILLEGALS no matter the cost to U.S. Citizens. Almost as if every one forgets that many Citizens sre murdered by the ILLEGALS such as Houston Police Officer Rodney Johnson.
