According to Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen, the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles office in the St. Croix Business Park was broken into just before 5 a.m. Monday morning when the alarm went off and police responded.

"Persons unknown entered the premises and took a computer and printer used to make driver licenses and ID cards," Jensen said. "A bunch of blanks to make the cards were also taken."

Jensen said it's too early to determine whether the motive for the crime was for illegal immigration purposes, underage consumption purposes or voter fraud purposes.

"I have no idea. I'd be speculating at best. It could be any one of those things or it could be somebody disgruntled with the DMV," Jensen said.

Jensen said there didn't appear to be any forced entry to the building, which the DMV shares with Wisconsin Community Corrections and the Wisconsin Office of State Public Defender. Police currently have no suspects, but the burglary remains under investigation.

Jensen asks that anyone with information about the crime call him at 715-386-4771 .
