GRAND BLANC, MI -- An undocumented worker is facing federal charges after authorities claim he sneaked into Genesee County multiple times and was working at a Grand Blanc Mexican restaurant.

The 33-year-old Honduras man was arrested Jan. 27 and was transported from his job at Nuevo Vallarta Mexican Restaurant in Grand Blanc to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Detroit, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Flint U.S. District Court.

The suspect has not yet been arraigned on any charges.

Guillermo Valadez, owner of Nuevo Vallarta, declined to comment on the incident. The restaurant is not charged with any wrongdoing.

Authorities claim the suspect has been apprehended for entering the county illegally numerous times before.

The suspect was apprehended May 17, 2007, by Border Patrol agents near Laredo, Texas, and was sent back to Honduras June 1, 2007, via a charter flight, according to court records. He was apprehended again Jan. 10, 2008, near Rio Grande City, Texas, and was once again transported back to Honduras via a charter a flight.

Dewitt police arrested the suspect April 15, 2010, for failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident and was sentenced to spend 60 days in jail. He was indicted by federal grand jury less than a month later and was deported back to Honduras Aug. 20, 2010, after time served in jail.

Court records allege the suspect was caught illegally inside the United States three more times -- and deported each time -- before entering the country May 25, 2013, near McAllen, Texas, and making his way to Grand Blanc.

The suspect was held in federal custody pending trial. A preliminary exam was scheduled for Feb. 13.
