    DEA Issues Nationwide Alert on Fentanyl as Threat to Health and Public Safety

    MAR 18 (WASHINGTON)

    The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) today issued a nationwide alert about the dangers of fentanyl and fentanyl analogues/ compounds. Fentanyl is commonly laced in heroin, causing significant problems across the country, particularly as heroin abuse has increased. This alert was issued through the multi-agency El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) to all U.S. law enforcement.

    2 Syracuse men sentenced to prison, $1.7 million in fines after food stamp fraud probe
    Ebrima Krubally, 46, was sentenced to 48 months incarceration and Alieu Jaiteh, 32, was sentenced to 18 months. U.S. District Judge Glenn T. Suddaby also ordered both to pay restitution of $1,709,304.81 in connection with the fraud scheme. Jaiteh, a foreign national of Gambia, is also facing deportation as a result of this conviction and other immigration violations.

    Jury convicts 'Ice Nightclub' owner of money laundering and drug conspiracy
    Steven Asir Thomas, 40, was arrested by federal agents after an undercover investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Seattle police uncovered his scheme to traffic drugs and use his Seattle “Ice Nightclub” to launder money earned through his drug operation.

    Olajuwon Davis, 22, and Brandon Orlando Baldwin, 22, both of St. Louis, were each indicted by a federal grand jury on the following charges: one felony count of conspiracy to damage or destroy a building, vehicle and other property by use of an explosive, conspiracy to make false written statements in connection with the purchase of firearms, the transfer of firearms to a felon, and two felony counts of making false written statements in connection with a firearms purchase.

    Christini Lynn Brashear, 45, of Rocklin, California, pleaded guilty in November 2014 to an indictment charging one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. She was sentenced to serve two years and must surrender herself to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons on May 8, 2015.

    Kansas massage parlor operators indicted on federal prostitution charges
    Ping Liu, 43, and Xingdi Lin, 48, both of Wichita, Kansas, were charged with one count each of attempting to persuade, induce, entice or coerce an individual to cross state lines to engage in prostitution and one each count of using a telephone in furtherance of prostitution.

    Nebraska man sentenced to 210 months for distributing child pornography
    Robert Vangorden, 41, of Omaha Nebraska, was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months (210 months) for distributing materials involving the sexual exploitation of a minor. Vangorden will also serve 10 years of supervised release following his incarceration. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Crime Victims' Fund and $5,000 in restitution.

    2 Missouri residents plead guilty to synthetic marijuana scheme
    Sharon Elizabeth Harrington, 27, of Bunceton, Missouri pleaded guilty to participating in a mail fraud conspiracy in Boone County, Mo., from March 2011, to December 2013. Chadwick James Schlicht, 44, of Osage Beach, Missouri, pleaded guilty to participating in a conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

    According to his plea agreement, Jean Claud Mills, 31, of Albuquerque, will be sentenced to 11 years in federal prison followed by a term of supervised release to be determined by the court.

    Former North Dakota National Guard member sentenced to more than 25 years for luring children over Internet for sex
    Eric Sansburn, 30, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, was sentenced to 305 months (25 years, 4 months) in federal prison on seven criminal charges. The charges included two counts of transporting minors to engage in sexual activity, three counts of coercion and enticement of a minor, and two counts of possession of child pornography.

    Indiana man indicted for transporting minor to engage in prostitution
    Ronnie Cosby, 39, of Hammond, Indiana, is charged with one count of transporting a minor to engage in prostitution. Cosby appeared in court March 30 for his arraignment. Court records allege Cosby committed the crime in February, transporting the child from Indiana to Illinois.
