Feb. 24, 2015 — $3 million marijuana bust leads to discovery of sophisticated smuggling tunnel

Federal agents continue to investigate the discovery of a sophisticated cross-border drug tunnel uncovered in Naco, following a traffic stop by local police that yielded more than two tons of marijuana.Full Story

Feb. 25, 2015 — 19 cultural treasures returned to the government of Italy

Seven U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent in Charge offices returned 19 cultural treasures to the Italian government this week. The artifacts, including a 17th century cannon, 5th century Greek pottery and items dating to 300-460 B.C., were looted from their rightful Italian owners and smuggled into the United States during the last several years. Feb. 25, 2015 — 7 criminal aliens arrested, 19 unlicensed movers fined after probe by ICE, NJ Consumer Affairs

A partnership between ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Affairs resulted in the arrest of seven moving company employees who allegedly were in the United States illegally — including one who had previous criminal convictions for sexual abuse of a minor and criminal possession of a loaded firearm. DEA Statement on the Mexico Arrest of Knights Templar Cartel Leader "La Tuta"

FEB 27 (WASHINGTON)

DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart today issued the following statement in response to the capture of Knights Templar Cartel Leader Servando Gomez-Martinez, a.k.a. "La Tuta" by the Mexican Federal Police:

"The arrest of Servando Gomez-Martinez, a.k.a. "La Tuta," is another win for Mexico in the fight against brutal criminal cartels like the Knights Templar. La Tuta led one of the world's most vicious and violent drug and criminal networks. He not only headed the drug trafficking activities, but was in charge of all organized crime, including extortion, kidnappings, and murder. We congratulate the brave members of the Mexican Federal Police for their successful operation and look forward to more successes against global organized crime."
