U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: (6/24/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 24,749 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested seven criminal aliens and five gang members. There were four rocking incidents.

Del Rio Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Nicaragua near Eagle Pass, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender in the state of Florida and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,256 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Kingsville, Texas. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a physical search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Bisbee, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for battery resulting in injury in the state of Indiana and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 875 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Cuba at the traffic checkpoint near Laredo, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and the marijuana was discovered inside the truck.


Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,923 pounds of marijuana and a Ford F-150 pickup truck near Big Bend National Park, Texas. When agents approached the truck, the driver and passenger absconded. The marijuana was discovered inside the abandoned truck.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Weslaco, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Simon, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender who had been previously removed from the United States. The subject was also identified as a Sureño 13 gang member who had an active arrest warrant for sexual abuse in the state of Colorado.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,646 pounds of marijuana, a tractor trailer, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subjects presented themselves for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 351 pounds of marijuana, a Ford pickup truck and trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Tubac, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search by agents revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,212 pounds of marijuana, a GMC pickup truck and a Jeep Grand Cherokee near Three Points, Arizona. Agents observed the drivers attempting to circumvent the traffic checkpoint. When agents interdicted the vehicles, the occupants absconded. A search of the abandoned vehicles revealed the marijuana. Records checks revealed the GMC truck had been reported stolen.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,566 pounds of marijuana and a Ford van near La Casita, Texas. Agents observed the van being loaded with bundles of suspected narcotics near the Rio Grande River and responded to the scene. When they arrived, agents discovered the van abandoned with the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued six illegal aliens from El Salvador near Lukeville, Arizona. Three of the subjects stated that four members of their group had been left behind in the desert and were suffering from dehydration. A search was initiated by Border Patrol agents and a Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine air asset. The remaining subjects were located, but one succumbed to the heat before agents could reach him.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 50 pounds of marijuana, a Chevrolet Malibu, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Amado, Arizona. The subject presented himself for inspection and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the vehicle. A physical search revealed the marijuana.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Indio, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 8,775 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A secondary inspection using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer. A subsequent search by agents revealed the marijuana.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Otay Mesa, California. During processing, the subject admitted to being an 18th Street gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,555 pounds of marijuana, a Ford pickup truck, and a trailer near Bruni, Texas. As agents approached the truck, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded into the brush. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Miguel, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.

Records checks revealed he had a prior conviction for battery in the state of Florida, and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,270 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Dodge truck near Ajo, Arizona. Agents encountered the vehicle being driven with no headlights and later located it abandoned. A search of the vehicle revealed the narcotics
