More than 4,000 migrants forced their way into Mexico after storming a border fence with Guatemala.

Video captured by Noticias Telemundo shows the moment when hundreds of migrants force the gate open and rush into Mexico despite officials efforts to keep the migrants out.


Mexican authorities previously vowed to turn back any migrants who did not follow immigration law.

The rush is the latest development for the caravan originating in Honduras, when approximately 1,300 migrants began an organized march to Mexico with some making their way to the U.S. Border.

The caravan caused the Mexican government to announce it would enforce immigration laws and turn back those who did not obtain a visa to travel through country. Despite the threat, the caravan grew in size to more than 4,000, pushing President Donald Trump to state he would remove all financial aid to Central American countries if the migration was not halted.

It remains unclear how many migrants were able to successfully enter Mexico by force.

Don't Let Them In. They're going to get through Mexico, at least some of them. This is probably beyond Mexico's knowledge, ability and willingness to engage. This will require force. Will Mexico use force? I do not know. Will the United States? I do not know. But until somebody does, this won't stop without sealing the border and cutting off both aid and trade with these countries. The cartels are behind this to interfere with the mid-term elections hoping a bunch of DemoQuacks are elected and business resumes as usual.

The Latest on a caravan of Central American migrants hoping to reach the United States (all times local):

Mexican authorities have allowed a second group of about 45 migrants to be processed at the border with Guatemala.

They have also started giving some people 45-day visitor's permits, which in theory could allow them time to reach the U.S. border. Other migrants have been applying for refugee status in Mexico.

Once they're processed, the migrants are being bused to an open-air, metal-roofed fairground in the city of Tapachula. There, the Red Cross is setting up small blue tents on the concrete floor.

At least three women have fainted at the processing center just beyond the gates. The bridge is crowded, and whenever a small side gate opens to receive migrants, there is a desperate crush of bodies that push forward in the heat.

People at the gate are clamoring: "Please let us in, we want to work."

Under the bridge a raft loaded with about 10 migrants crossed to the Mexican side. About a dozen other migrants swam across. None were apparently detained despite the presence of hundreds of police lining the bridge.
