Border Patrol agent uses Taser on man during foot chase in Nogales

NOGALES - A Border Patrol agent used a Taser to subdue a man advancing on him after a traffic stop in Nogales yesterday - agents searched the man's car and found 243 pounds of marijuana.

A Nogales Station Border Patrol agent attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Western Ave. and Kitchen St. in Nogales Thursday, but the vehicle accelerated, and the driven jumped out and ran into a nearby park, according to a Customs and Border Protection news release. As the agent chased the subject on foot , he turned and advanced on the agent while reaching under his shirt.

The agent told the subject to get on the ground; he refused, and the agent used a Taser to subdue and secure the man, CBP states. The agent found a holstered knife under the man's shirt.

Agents found 243 pounds of marijuana inside the man's vehicle, which was transported to Border Patrol's Nogales Station. The subject is being held for federal prosecution, CBP states.
