CBP Officers Apprehend Fugitive Wanted by State of Texas for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge arrested a man wanted by the State of Texas on a state charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, this last Easter weekend.

On April 12, at 5:05 p.m., CBP officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge came in contact with a male northbound traveler. At primary, the traveler was identified as Luis Miguel Ricardo Zamora, a U.S. citizen, age 20 from Palacios, Texas. After a primary inspection, Zamora was referred to secondary for an intensive examination.

During a check of a CBP database, secondary officers determined that Zamora was listed as the subject of an outstanding criminal arrest warrant. The warrant identified Zamora as a fugitive wanted by the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office, Bay City, Texas on a State of Texas charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

After his arrest, Zamora was transferred to the custody of the Hidalgo, Texas Police Department. Zamora remains incarcerated and is pending extradition proceedings.
